Education Initiative Struer

Struer is THE CITY OF SOUND and the world's only municipality that invests in sound as a driver for local development and growth. Sound has for a long time been at the core of the identity of the entire area. We utilize the position to enhance life on all levels – including culture, living, events, welfare, and city planning.

Vision for a national educational hub for sound in Struer

Struer aims to establish a national educational hub for sound, centered around a Regional Educational College. This hub has the potential to attract and host educational programs linked to the area's unique industrial strength in the field of sound.

To this end, a number of key local stakeholders founded the association 'Uddannelsesinitiativet i Struer' (Education Initiative Struer) in 2023. The association continues the work of the municipal development project of the same name, which was launched by the Struer Municipality's City Council in 2021.

The goal is to create:

• A meeting place for all educational programs that incorporate sound into their field of study.
• Facilities and a framework enabling students to participate in internships, company case studies, thesis collaborations, interdisciplinary modules, camps, workshops, and more.
• A focus on interdisciplinary collaboration, practical application, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
• A shared student housing environment and community for students, interns, project staff, and commuting knowledge workers within the 'Sound Cluster' (Lydklyngen).

The stakeholders behind the association

Education Initiative Struer is backed by Struer Municipality and a number of companies in the Struer area, led by Bang & Olufsen, Harman-Samsung, Phillips-Medisize, and Sound Hub Denmark.

The association welcomes anyone who wishes to support the effort to attract educational activities to the area. As a member, you and your company can help create a shared study environment for all students and interns, and help us establish entirely new educational opportunities in the area.

Study

In Struer, we create opportunities for educational stay, regardless of your level of education, field, or general interests. You can participate in internships, work on a project, or write your thesis in connection with a company or in collaboration with one of the many players in The City of Sound.

The Silicon Valley of Sound is a professional and world class ecosystem of well-established sound companies as well as start- ups. Struer is situated at the Limfjord, with a beautiful and rippling moraine landscape. With heathland, forests, and the North Sea within reach, there is varied nature right around the corner. There are many opportunities to get out and enjoy the fjord; whether it's on a paddleboard, in a kayak, or on a wakeboard at the harbor's cable park. While nature offers space for an active life, the tranquil surroundings provide room for reflection.
